Using Gemstones and Crystals for Better Sleep

Updated: Sep 27

I've been struggling with sleep lately due to menopausal symptoms, and I've found that establishing bedtime routines and rituals can make a world of difference. Here are some practices that have been particularly helpful for me:

  • ABHYANGA Self-Massage: I use Vata balancing sesame oil to calm my mind and body before bed.

  • Turmeric Latte with Ashwagandha: This warm drink is soothing and helps me relax deeply.

  • Yoga NIDRA: A guided meditation practice that promotes deep relaxation and prepares me for a restful sleep.

  • Crystals and Gemstones: I love keeping these near me at bedtime for their calming and healing properties.

I love keeping Crystals & Gemstones me at bedtime for their calming and healing properties.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Personalised Rituals: Establish bedtime routines that resonate with you, like self-massage and calming drinks.

  2. Crystal Healing: Explore crystals such as Amethyst and Howlite to enhance relaxation and improve sleep quality.

  3. Manifestation Practices: Use rituals and meditation to manifest intentions and promote restful sleep.

Embrace these practices to transform your sleep routine and experience the calming benefits of crystals and gemstones firsthand.

As well as Amethyst, pictured above, there are some other crystals and gemstones that may help you get a better nights sleep, read on for my recommendations.

  • Clear quartz: Clears your mind and encourages pleasant dreams.

  • Howlite: Soothes and clams the mind and eases insomnia, it's also believed to reduce fretful thoughts, aid general relaxation and help prepare for meditation or sleep.

"If you suffer from insomnia caused by racing thoughts at bedtime, a piece of howlite placed under your pillow or as a crystal grid around your bed may help" – Keith Birch

  • Hematite: Can help ground and calm you after a busy day. Hematite, also known as the stone for the mind and can be helpful if you have sleep disturbances due to hysteria and anxiety. It promotes a calming atmosphere, heals emotional imbalances, and helps you have a deep sleep. It can be helpful to hold Hematite crystal in your hands, close your eyes, and envision a good sleep just before going to bed.

  • Agate: Protects against bad dreams. Particularly Blue Lace Agate which promotes positive self-talk, so instead of wrestling with our minds about the choices we have made throughout the day we can rest in a peaceful sleepy slumber.

  • Moonstone: Relieves tension to help you drift off to sleep. Different Moonstones have different properties when it comes to healing. While yellow or peach moonstone stimulates the mind and removes all worry and anxiety, rainbow moonstone provides psychotic protection, thereby aiding in calm sleep and lucid dreaming.
